California Department of Rehabilitation
PURPOSE: Receive public input to help determine preferred use of Title VII Chapter 2 funds for independent living services for older individuals who are blind.
The California Department of Rehabilitation received a significant financial augmentation under Title VII Chapter 2 of the Rehabilitation Act for federal fiscal year 2000. The Public Hearing will provide an opportunity for anyone who is interested to submit suggestions, orally or in writing to the Department, for utilizing these funds. Moneys allocated under Title VII Chapter 2 of the Rehabilitation Act are for independent living skill training to older individuals who are blind, including but not limited to, evaluation, information and referral, orientation and mobility, transportation, guide, reader and interpreter services, and provision of adaptive equipment and training in its use.
