California's Strategic Five-Year Plan For Title I of the Workforce Investment Act and Wagner-Peyser Act of 1998

The California Workforce Investment Board (State Board) is responsible for assisting the Governor in performing the duties and responsibilities required by the federal Workforce Investment Act of 1998. The Workforce Investment Act represents a national consensus on the need to restructure a multitude of workforce development programs into an integrated workforce investment system. The Act also requires states to submit a strategic five-year plan for workforce investment.

The State Board is accepting comments on California's draft five-year strategic plan. This draft plan sets the framework for development of a new comprehensive workforce investment system that will link economic and workforce development. This plan represents the first step in building the foundation necessary to forge a system that is customer-focused, accountable, and accessible to all Californians. The plan can be downloaded from the State Board web site: www.calwia.org or call (916) 654-9995 to request a copy.

Interested persons may attend one of the public meetings listed below to provide comments, views, and suggestions.

All public meetings, except Feb. 10th and 17th  will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Feb. 10th and 17th meetings will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
(A lunch break will be scheduled)

Those interested in providing comments will be asked to schedule a verbal presentation and sign in at the meeting. To provide maximum participation, verbal presentations will be limited to five minutes or less. All presenters are requested to provide written comments. If you wish to comment but cannot attend, please mail, fax, or e-mail your comments to the California Office of Workforce Investment at P.O. Box 826880, MIC 45, Sacramento, CA 94280-0001.
